To answer the original question, don't bother with aftermarket warranties. These cars are pretty bullet proof. Describe your issue a little better and I'm sure some of the more experienced Z4 guys will chime in with suggested solutions.
Not across the board. I just had my aftermarket warranty pick up a dr vanos reinforced hub and unit. That was $5,000 not out of my pocket. Plus it has covered, diff seal, pwr steering pump and hose and finally a windshield wiper motor assembly. The warranty originally cost $2,500.

The Hendrick Autoguard is no scam. But many are.

Also chaps these cars are not so "bulletproof", or rather compared to what?
