Anyway, I got the wheel back on and started looking for options and found the stud conversion. I won't be tracking mine but I would think it would be a real PITA for trackers replacing rotors, have to remove the studs for each rotor replacement.
How do you remove the bullet nose stud? is it a hex on the base or what?

LOL, that's the first thing I thought when I swapped winter wheels for the first time on a German car. When I pulled out the whole bolt I thought I broke something! I take it this is your first BMW/Audi/Mercedes? If you aren't tracking your car you can use something like this to hang your wheels if you're only taking them off a couple times a year. It's called a wheel stud alignment tool and costs around $10-15 from Bavauto or any of the online parts stores. Much cheaper than buying 20 studs and nuts.
