The purpose of getting to the track was to compare stock exhaust vs muffler delete, but unfortunately the night was full of mishaps and a busy night. Lot's of different cars to compare times with that night
My setup...
vmr csl reps 10" wide rears with 275 30/19 dunlop direzzas(no traction)
muffler delete (40lb weight savings)
intake-bmc filter, rpi scoop, streamline elbow
odyssey battery (30lbs weight savings)
my times...out of 3 runs I misshifted one so here are the two. The first launch was at 4500 and dump and second was at 3000 and feathering the clutch

I really felt the second time was right in line or even higher w/ what others were getting on dragtimes.com My trap speed was pretty consistent regardless of the launch so I feel I have a pretty good baseline for next week and my stock exhaust.

r35 gtr claimed 600 whp...88 trap w/ no launch(one of the biggest let downs)
e46 m3 stock manual....trapped 80mph and 9.1 (bad driver)
g37s coupe auto...trapped 78 and 9.**
e55 amg 05....8.560 @ 83.31 (I raced him)
05 STI...trapped 80 mph
gallardo spyder....the biggest let down trapped 85 w/ no launch
e90 m3 gigantti supercharged... trapped 92 w/ majpr traction issues
e92 m3 dct.... 89mph trap
ISF ....trapped 84mph
is350 ("intake/exhaust only
")....trapped 87 for his bet run, but I figure he was running nitrous.
the reason I paid more attention to the trap was is b/c it has less to with the driver and a better indicator of the car. The 1/8 really is a limitation for our high revving beasts and most other imports who don't have the ground moving torque
What I got out of this experience...
the only cars that were consistent or even driven to the limit were the autos. I can see where people say 80% driver and 20% car, exponentially in the twisties. Regardless I have a lot of respect even for those who live their life in 1/4 mile or 1/8 increments as the adrenaline rush while sitting at the light and the self control exhibited while the adrenaline works against you for the that fraction of a minute.
