I haven't bought anything from Thayer, but I'm familiar with the shop. I was able to join for an open house at their current location a couple years ago. I left with the impression that they know their stuff. The owner has a 900 whp Z3M, and he previously had a Z4M. They will be doing my non-M motor build once I return from overseas.
You might have better luck with the diff question on the M3 forums.
