Here are a few photos of the OEM part.



As can be seen the inside is very smooth/polished



I've run a stream of water over the corrugated section at the inlet end of the elbow to show any restriction that might occur. It appears to me that this has a tendency to spread a "boundary layer" onto the smooth section of the pipe rather than create eddy currents which might impede flow.



The inlet orifice measures 85mm in diameter (Area 56.74sq cms) and the elbow is an increasing taper to the elliptical orifice which measures 110mm x 135mm (Area 116.71sq cms) which is double the size of the inlet. No restriction there.
