M5 shifter with boot

My shifter started feeling loose and rotating a bit. When I removed it, I noticed that the plastic was cracked. Seeing as it was time for a new shifter, figured I'd upgrade.

I followed these instructions, with the only difference is that I did use a bit of glue to keep it all together.

I recommend you start with the smaller edge (bottom side), notice I poked some holes in the leather for the studs.

I repeated it with the top, then did the sides. This way it all lines up perfectly when done. Here I'm about 90% done, just need a little cleanup and more glue and clamps.

Final result.
