It's being rebuilt because I couldn't find anyone locally that had an entire differential at a reasonable price. That's why it's costing me so much in labor. But at least it's being done by a legitimate shop lol
And according to the quotes that people have been charged, it's not too bad. The shop is charging me $950 just for the 3.91 swap, and $200 for AutoSolutions SSK install. They're also throwing in a free 1200-mile differential flush after my break-in process.
The shop is called Performance Technic in Pleasanton, CA. A BMW-specific independent shop whom also build custom race cars
