There have been customers that have removed the helper spring without any issues besides from a little bit more noise coming from the suspension. Others have also added torrington bearings to help alleviate that noise. Removing the helper spring should bring the spring perch high enough so that you would not have wheel and tire clearance issues anymore. Otherwise, switching to a 6" length linear race spring would be the best solution.
