Some of the funniest one's I've seen were: FEO2, and HIO AG.
For you non chemists, the first one either describes the car, or is the name of the guy inside it: Rust or Rusty. The second one is a combo: High-O Silver!
I don't know if this was mentioned, but some vegetarian was upset when they had their vanity plate taken away: ILUVTOFU. They thought it described their love of bean curd, but apparenty the drivers behind them thought something else!
