though i have never used the V12s i can say that as an owner of PSSs i wouldn't recommend anything else. Yes they are expensive, but they have a pretty good tread life so that helps offset some of the costs.

As far as performance goes, they are terrific tires. They are very very linear and provide great feedback. You can feel the tires breaking loose and hold just about any amount angle with the rear. Sure the max performance wont touch some of the more aggressive tires, but the overall experience that these tires provide is very good all around and all weather.
