Congrats on the car. I have one in my car and would not be without it, though I'm tall so it doesn't get in my way. I know for shorter people, it can get in the way when shifting. However, it you really want to remove it, use a heat gun on a low, far way from the taped area so soften the glue, then use some dental floss to saw through the double sided tape. I believe it's at the 4 corners.
