Had the hoses been changed? They can develop pin-sized hole just due to age. I make it a habit to swap out coolant hoses every 8 to 10 years or every 80k to 100k, whichever comes first.
Other than the waterpump/T-stats/hoses, I can't think of anything that can leak coolant in that oil filter area
