They don't have the "initial bite" of the stock pads, that turns some off who like that feather pedal power. That said, to me they are more progressive in their stopping power, and I like that. I hated the excessive brake dust from the stock pads, and since I didn't need that "bite" on a daily driver, I am fine with the Akebonos. I don't drive like "Granny", and the Akebonos do fine with spirited daily driving
