The reason they don't post prices has less to with what they want, and is required by the manufacturer. Sure it allows them to beat "the other guy" by a few bucks to secure the sale; but trust me, the vendors on the forum don't enjoy sending the same price via PM 50 times.
Typically what they offer to us forum guys is below advertised pricing; meaning they can lose their distributor rights if they display the price publicly.
Not saying it isn't helpful to have the average real-world cost displayed; but don't attack the vendors for something that's really not up to them.
