digging a little deeper, its possible that there are clearance differences for the hose thimble.

The E46M3 has no lower strut bolts, so there may be more clearance for the thimble to come straight out.

eg this plate from Hard Motorsport


vs this one for the E36M3


you can see in these pics how the thimble comes off the E36M3 plate on an angle to clear the lower strut bolt.





Right now I'm leaning towards the E36M3 plates as the best fit.
Note; I'm also looking at the HARD Motorsport plates as they are designed for a BBK with 355mm rotor.
They provide a little more shielding of the lower steering ball joint & the damper as well (keep the damper oil as cool as possible)


I will post more when I get a chance to test fit.
