Talking about syncro problems, I had them within the first 5-7K miles during the first year owned the car, not only 1>2, but 2>3 was the worst. Dealer was great and replaced the transmission with just a comment from me that this was the worst shifting trans I had ever driven. I'm sure they felt the syncro issues during test drive. Flew in a new transmission from Germany and installed within 7 days.
TIP for those who have installed stiffer engine mounts and experiencing greater NVH. The dealer CAN raise the idle about 150 RPM and get you into a smoother band. I installed the RE stiffer mounts, which did cause greater NVH at idle. At a stoplight, I would push the throttle to get 1,000 RPM and it would smooth out. Tried a local BMW shop who couldn't raise the idle, but Dealer was able to last time I was in. Makes a big difference. Not perfect, needs about another 50-100 RPMs at idle, but make a big difference.
