BMW has not used a actual METAL or alloy for the emblem bases for many moons.

Our newer versions are ABS polycarbonate plastics that have a chromate coating, hence the chrome look.

While this coating does help the emblem last longer ( than bare)....it will still warp/melt with high heat.

Just a word of caution.
