The ofsset calculator says:
" 9mm LESS clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 29mm"
Which sounds like they should just about squeeze under the arches (the stock rims sit way in under there).

Someone else here recently put stock M rims on his non-M and got them to fit (albeit barely). Those are 18x9 ET30 and would stick about an eighth of an inch LESS far out than 18x10 ET40's. 1/8" isn't much, but it sounds like you'd be awfully close...
