The 240i is a fantastic car the 2-series a great platform. Higher seating position, electronic steering disconnect and muted feel really separate it from older platforms though. Moreover, that turbo engine offers little character compared to the /M engines of yore.
The 228i my wife and I owned was a stellar street car and the M2 provides even more thrills, however it faltered as a possible replacement for my own Z4M.
