I know my way around Philadelphia fairly well, but I was there in '97 hitting a few bars on South Street, and wound up (after taking a wrong turn) in a very bad part of South West Philly in a car with Texas License Plates on it. It was not the most comfortable situation I've ever been in.
Philadelphia is a tough town though. Even back in the old days, it was not uncommon to boo little kids at Easter Egg Hunts.
