I had a similar noise - turns out it was the bottom coils of the coilovers rubbing together. visible scrapes on the coils. Tested with electrical table bumpers - solved the problem. Fixed long-term with flexible cable wrap around the next-to-bottom cable. And yes, the z4M uses the standard mounts.
