Regretfully I followed the advice in the MC manual which recommends 225/40R18. I put these on a set of stock rims I bought separately on EBAY. Vredestein Wintrac, good tires but the profile is too low for winter and the speedometer error is brutal now.
I should have put 225/45r18 instead and ignored BMW advice.
