any update to this? i just got a 2006 z4mr last week and already having an issue, the same as OPs it sounds like
I used to have a z4 3.0l and had this same problem. I replaced the starter and and it fixed it. The job was surprisingly easy to do from the top of the car.
Is changing the starter on the z4m just as easy as the 3.0? anybody done it and have any advice?
