With the difference in diameters between the old and new tire. It does make the diff work a bit more, but unless you have an M with the LSD you should probably be OK. I'd go ahead and replace the 75% worn tire now anyway just to get the wear out synched up again. Otherwise, you'll continuously have one new and one worn tire.
