Possible hydrolic issue 2006 z4 3.0si

First post here and I tend to read a lot but I haven't found something specific to my issue.

The issue is that the top completely retracts and the sensor stops the motor and the flashing light stops. After a few minutes the top is noticeably higher by less than an inch and the light starts flashing again. I have driven like this but it scares me in the sense that if the top catches wind, I am sure it would ruin my day.

What have I done?
- Relocated the pump from original location to my trunk.
- Topped off fluids.
- Noticed there was a small leak on one of the lines and tightened it down. No longer seems to be leaking.

From what I see, it seems like the hydraulics relax after a few minutes so I am assuming it's something to do with the lines.

- Is it likely that there's a break in a line that I am not seeing?
- Is there a possibility of air in the line? If so, how would I get it out?
- For good measure, how tight can I crank on those lines that connect to the pump without causing damage?

Thank you in advance.

EDIT:
I missed "hydraulic" spelling and should have mentioned that it was the motor to the convertible top.
