Electrical issues, airbag errors traced to faulty ignition switch

I recently had a handful of electrical problems crop up in my 06 roadster, all at once: radio cutting out, MFSW controls dead, random airbag errors, passenger seat occupancy sensor error ( flashing diabled light), heated seats and DSC control would only work intermittently. This coincided with the OEM battery dying and being replaced.

Indy shop could not determine a cause. We suspected the sping switch in the steering column. Finally bit the bullet and wheeled it into a dealer ( Valencia BMW) for a full diagnostic.

Culprit turned out to be a faulty ignition switch that was disabling some of the other systems randomly, and causing a fault code storm throughout the car. Go figure. Parts and labor to replace same, about $480.00, all issues resolved. Chalk one up for the stealership.
