I wouldn't say "a" drop, a drop or two is good. Really the studs are not so big to need too much more. One drop will actually cover one or two threads all the way round on a bolt that size.
You can use more, the negative is that if you ever need to remove it will be very difficult and you will be required to heat them to loosen, and then chase the threads.
