It was a wild ass guess without any diagnosis when I ordered a pump and filter. I would of had to of ran around with a fuel pressure gauge hooked up when the problem was occurring to see it but I figured it had to be fuel.

Yeah I searched for pump issues thinking I would find someone that had a bad pump but I never found anything let alone something like I found and it wasn't encouraging when I went to order a pump and the BMW store had to get one from the warehouse because none of the stores in the area had one! That tells me they don't stock them becaue they don't install them often.

I've been racking my brain to figure out how this happens and I think it comes down to a few possibilities -

1. Missed incorrect install from the factory
2. Pump was knocked out of the bracket when the previous owner was hit in the rear.
3. Some how it came loose from banging the curbs on the race track which is probably unlikely since people on the forum track their cars all the time
