Regarding the axles they're actually heavier.. but significantly more durable. Our cars (E46 M3, Z4M, etc) all snap axles pretty easily under wheel hop. This is more of a precautionary step that Trevor took with those axles. Some people have had no issues with their stock axles and turbo E46's.. but quite a few have snapped them with even the slightest amount of wheel hop.
i will be ordering a set of these axles through lutz very soon :-) every FI z4m should have them imo....
