I dunno...what's the velocity of the air in the pipe? If the external velocity is Mach .1 it doesn't necessarily make the internal velocity Mach .1
Inside the pipe it's duct flow. Compressibility effects are easy to compute if you know what the flow looks like inside the duct. And if the area of the duct is variable (converging/diverging) you're definately going to change densities...
