ZPOST - View Single Post - Z4 Facelift storage latch- what does it do?

Hi all, just picked up an 07 3.0i with storage package. Unsure what this latch does- on my car I cant press it in, it just stops. The lower one activates the center storage area as normal.

Is this just a dummy button?
