That's great (not to mention overdue)! I don't suppose you took any pictures on your day trips… (hint, hint)?

I'm now about halfway through your Dad's book, and it's fascinating. I've learned a lot about wartime life in the British Navy, including a few things that I've long wondered about. For example, when a battleship, destroyer, or cruiser fires its mammoth long-range guns, doesn't the rolling of the ship throw off the trajectory of the shells? Answer (per Mack): The electrical circuit to fire the shells would not be complete until the ship rolled to exactly horizontal, at which point a mercury switch would connect, thereby completing the circuit anywhere from 1 to 8 or 9 seconds after the gunnery team had pushed the button to fire!
