Well had a chance to clean the area today. It's a real pain to get up into that area and scrub. Had the fan and the AC belt out to give some space. I just used some simple green and water. Didn't have a chance to test drive but I did run the engine for a few minutes and had the wife rev it to 3k-4K to see if I can hear any VANOS rattle. No noise out of the ordinary so nothing catastrophic going on inside the VANOS at the moment.
I than checked for any apparent new oil leaking focusing on the chain Tensioner and the area behind the VANOS but couldn't see any new oil. I plan on taking it for a longer drive tomorrow and inspect again. Not sure if that will make a difference. Pictures are from after I ran the engine. Will post back tomorrow
