I just got mine today, will install this weekend. A couple of points to remarks made by others on this thread. The hole in the bottom of the "ash tray" is for a screw. This is not an ashtray according to the product description, it is a coin tray. Secondly, the instructions state " no vehicle coding is required for this retrofit" to answer the question about recoding the M. Will let you know how it works!
