well their Brembo 6 piston calipers so lots of clamping force, and the surface area of the pad is also larger. but i cant say their better than the Z4M's for sure as i have an 3.0I and havent taken apart a Z4M's caliper.. perhaps someone else could give you a better answer.
the caliper carrier works with any E46 style suspention and the Z4M has the E36M front suspention so not sure if that would work, but if you have block of aluminum and a metal shop near by i bet you you could fab something up pretty easily.
