There's definitely a difference between HP summer tyres and all-seasons or winter tyres...and the odd time I've taken a car onto the track with A/S or winters on has been 'fun'

But they're not intended for that sort of abuse, and other than being slightly noisier, slower to respond to steering inputs and lacking in outright grip in the dry, they're much as you'd expect.

In the cold/wet and snowy conditions they're leagues ahead and you don't have to tip-toe around avoiding slush/snow patches everywhere.

But as I said, the Z4MC only wears UHP summers (Michelin SuperSports or similar), the e46 330D Touring wears all-seasons (18" Cross-Climate 2) and it's only the F31 320D Touring that swaps between winters/summers (18" Nokia WR4 / 19" Goodyear F1 Asymetric 5 RF)...and those have covered plenty of UK winter miles...although not had any really heavy snow to test them out as we get 2-3" if we're lucky.
