Not necessarily. I of course try to avoid it, but there have been a few times I have scraped the underside of the front spoiler, gently enough to not damage the car other than scraping the rubber lip on the underside. This has happened driving up steeper curb cuts a few times. If the nose does make contact, I'll stop and approach it a different way. But that initial contact point would be the license plate bracket, which it probably hanging down an inch below the spoiler. So it becomes much easier to bottom out the front, and I imagine even a small contact could damage the thing.
