What's the pipe diameter into and out of the muffler?
Why not run a 3" pipe outlet instead of two separate pipes?

Any reason not to do this to an M? It certainly doesn't need two mufflers back there.
Asking because I just bought an MZ4 and want to drop the boat anchor exhaust before doing other tuning.
Not M owner but I did a single 3" stainless / mandrel exhaust after I installed headers. And to answer your question yes you really don't need the duals. Bimmerworld's race exhaust for the e46 M3 is a single sided exhaust, clearly more functional than aesthetics but it's not for everyone.

Headers merged to single 3"

Mandrel bent with small Flowmaster muffler in the back

Eventually switched from oval to dual tip
