^interesting. i've always been under the impression tt the workmanship of the two pieces of wood - the face piece with the f-holes and the base piece - gives a specific violin it's aural characteristics. the exact position of the sound post and bass bar, together with the exact construction of the bridge, also affects sound. as violins age, the wood progressively dries out and this enhances the sound. even the lacquer used to varnish the wood affects the sound properties. there are just so many factors and hence my scepticism toward a cf violin. kudos cos it's different, and probably costs a fair bit
