I found some interesting reading on other sites related to the harmonic balancer.
There are cases were they begin to fail which causes more distortion in the crank shaft at higher RPMs.
Guys have replaced them and found the engine to run considerably smoother at higher RPMs.
It made me think about your offset wear pattern.
....just some food for thought.

The wear pattern while not perfect, was definitely more centered.
