that's terrible advice, sounds like its time for you to find a new indy.

the point of the service isn't just to make your engine quieter, there's a bunch of other stuff you should check at the same time.

most indy shops will charge between $500-$700 for a valve adjustment including the new seals, gaskets, etc. I've seen dealers quote anywhere from $1700 to $2500 for the same job.
