Awesome work, as well as an amazing DIY writeup. I did the same procedure to the Crossfire I had previous to the M, so I understand how much work you put in to this. Can't say I'd ever hazard to do it again, though. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of using CFFL tube lighting, and the ballasts that powered the tubes proved problematic (i.e. liked to die after 6 months...) LED definitely seems like a better way to go.
