Both superchargers AND turbos are referred to as "blowers," because they force air into the intake manifold (hence "forced induction"). More air + more fuel + proper tuning = more power. Neither of them suck anything..
Superchargers run off of the engine's crank (belt-driven), while turbochargers run off of the engine's exhaust gases (flow-driven). |
edit: I didn't phrase things right about the turbo, but I do know how it works. And it might be a regional thing, but I've never heard of a turbo being called a "blower".
