Hey all,
I have been traveling for work. I will post pics and measurements tomorrow. I believe it was around 3.5" back on the tip. You can't go back too far. Only as far as the stainless is folded over. And you do not want to block any gasses going into the smaller tips. I do not have a way to measure reduction in volume or drone, other than to say it's significant. I think my wife will ride in the car again! I'm am not sure it would come through in recordings. I know the sound clips I listened to did not prepare me for the volume in real life.
I also used a specific stainless bit.
