So by "the next thing", the car knows what comes next in the sequence (oil service or inspection) and when the SIA is reset it can only proceed to the next service. Is this right?

I'm trying to determine why I am seeing the "Inspection" milage indicator countdown in the SIA display instead of seeing an "Oil Service" milage indicator. (the SIA counted me down to my Inspection I at 25,600 miles, I had the work done, the shop reset the SIA and it shows/has always shown "Inspection" since then as it counts down (5K miles to go with 35K miles on the odometer)
