As someone who made the foolish decision as a 17 year old to purchase a sportbike, this is one of the wisest things that has been said about sportbikes and bikes in general. Sportbikes are fun toys, but definitely not something that should be in the hands of a teenager, and most definitely not something on which someone learns to ride.
