Then the 1M is an "M" car because it has been totally reengineered to M standards, not simply a sport spring/bumper package. It's powertrain is what's best available for it at the moment. V8 would be unreasonable, and what non turbo I6 does BMW offer right now that could be used as an M engine. The e85/6 Z4M got it's engine from the M3/Z3M Coupe. Since the new M3 engine doesn't work, they have to get the best engine they currently offer -> N54 w/30HP bump, overboost, and an exhaust.

Still doesn't cut it for me. The motor in the 1M should be something special(even if just 20-30hp more than the other N54 variants).
