whaaat?? Way wrong. The Z4 was completely designed as a convertible, years before there was even a thought of a coupe. That's why the coupe is even HEAVIER than the vert. It still has all the same reinforcement bars that a convertible has, then they added in the steel roof.
BTW: My M has been my only car since December of 2005. No issues at all as a daily.
