Starting around 5k, the torque is very nice. Definitely test drive it, make sure you pay attention to the 1-> 2 shift, it has turned off many people as it's not smooth, sometimes described as 'crunchy' . The S54 is still the last great I-6 engine from BMW, it's worlds above the N<anything> from BMW.
