No, I do not cover anything, I've been doing it this way for 20+ years, the only time I ever had an issue was on My SHO and water got into the spark plug wells because they no longer seated properly due to the discontinuation of the original spark plug and the replacements were a little taller causing it not to seat. So I would have to suck the water out with a shop vac
